Our multi-media fabric artist Peg Gowen of Sand Dollar Creations received quite a few special awards at the St. Mary's County Fair recently! Taking 1st and 2nd place in several different categories, Peg's work was judged and juried by a panel of local artists who looked for creativity and quality of workmanship. Peg has all of those and more, congratulations Peg! Every week we select one of our very favorite items to showcase, it's always hard to pick just one as there are so many interesting and unique handmade crafts to choose from. Here is some info. about our talented new co-op member: "I've been crafting as long as I can remember. A few years ago I got tired of never having anything customized for my kids who have unique names so I decided to make it myself. My husband left for his first deployment shortly after and I decided to make my hobby something a little bit more while allowing me to get out of mom mode and into a creative mode. I made DIY craft kits for everyone's favorite Pinterest-worthy craft projects and hosting craft nights with my friends and family. I expanded to start designing and making shirts and baby onesies as well as custom earrings and unique home décor. Here we are 5 deployments and 1 more kid later! I like to read, scrapbook with Project Life, & explore the Eastern US with my family (we moved here from AZ 9 month ago). I survive on chocolate, Dr. Pepper & tacos."  |
